What's New in Workplace? June 2023

All the latest Workplace product announcements and feature releases.

This month, we’re excited to share the much anticipated custom profile frames, inline videos for Workplace posts, custom emojis as well as additions to Workplace Live Video such as the ability to practice sessions prior to going live and seamless host 'rejoin' functionality.

Custom frames for profile pictures

Admins can use the admin panel to create and manage branded custom profile picture frames for anyone in their company to use. Available on desktop and mobile (Android/iOS).

Banner images for Workplace posts

In addition to being able to include images within the text of a post, end users can now add a banner image to the top of their posts to make them more eye-catching. Available on desktop and mobile (Android/iOS).

Workplace posts with inline videos

End users can now add videos into the text of any Workplace post. Create on desktop and enjoy the results across desktop and mobile (Android/iOS).

Improved group naming

End users can help people find their groups, by avoiding creating multiple groups with similar names, using this name matching feature. Available on desktop.

Control link previews

We’ve added an option in settings for end users to choose whether or not to display previews for incoming links. Just navigate to the settings page and set the preferences on each platform. Available on mobile (Android/iOS).

Seamless ‘Host Rejoin’ for uninterrupted live streaming

With the ‘Host Rejoin’ feature, a host can now recover from any technical issues quickly, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted live streaming experience for presenters and the audience. Available for end users to go live with others on desktop.

Custom Workplace emojis

End users can now create and publish posts with custom emojis. Workplace admins can create these emojis in a new admin page. Add custom emojis on desktop and see them across desktop and mobile (Android/iOS).

Unsend messages when needed

We’ve removed the 10 minute time limit on unsending messages. Available on desktop and mobile (Android/iOS).

Filter Workplace Chat by participants

End users can easily find what they’re looking for on Workplace Chat by filtering search results by people or groups. Available on desktop.

End users can now forward a bundle of images on Workplace Chat when using an Android device.

See specific Key Updates when joining a group

The top of the feed is now the place to go to see specific Key Updates when joining a group with the introduction of a new banner. Available now on mobile (Android/iOS).

Moderate content in closed or secret groups without needing to be a member

Content moderators and admins now have the ability to moderate closed and secret groups without needing to be members. This makes it easier to take action on specific items of inappropriate content, without needing to see all content in a closed or secret group. Available on desktop.
